Because dilettantes have gotten a bad rap.

Also it's a hard word to spell.
I remember when I first learned the word, "Dilettante." I heard it on TV. Someone accused Lisa Simpson of being a dilettante, and she was horrified.
When I found out the true definition, I didn't understand why it was supposed to be so bad.
After all, isn't it good to know a little something about everything?
